How and when to obtain test results from the surgery

Getting your test results

The surgery will contact you by telephone (text) or letter only if your result is abnormal and you require treatment or further investigations. You will not be contacted if your result is normal. You can access your results by using Patient Online Services or by viewing your medical records on the NHS App. If you do not have access to this, please telephone the surgery after 3.00pm. Results will not be given to anyone other than the patient, unless explicit consent has been received.

  • Blood tests normally take between 7-10 days
  • X-rays and Ultrasound take up to 4 weeks
  • CT & MRI are taking 12-14 weeks routine, 7-8 weeks if urgent
  • Cervical smear results will be sent via letter to your home address. These can take up to 8 weeks.
